WESA in the time of COVID-19
What does an after-school program do when schools close? And a global pandemic requires that we stay home and not gather in groups?
We look our mission straight on and find creative ways to continue to meet it.
While many non-profits have been forced to limit their impact during these unprecedented times, we have been more active than ever in supporting our elementary, middle, and high school students during the challenge of COVID-19’s educational disruption. We are providing online classrooms with structured educational programming and interactive fitness sessions.
These virtual spaces offer students a chance to learn, socialize, exercise, and continue some aspects of their pre-COVID-19 routine, creating a semblance of normalcy during these challenging times.
And we remain flexible. It is hard to say what next week will bring, but we are ready to face it head on, with creativity, positive energy, open communication with students and families, and our mission guiding our way.
